Consul General
Tony Samoila was born and raised in Bucharest, Romania. He graduated from the Academy of Economic Sciences in 1981, and worked as an Economist (at Centrocoop Bucharest) until 1984, when he legally immigrated to the United States.
As a professional, Mr. Samoila built his carrier and reputation, working for more than 30 years, in the field of International Shipping and Trade.
Mr. Samoila takes pride in serving equally, his native country, Romania, and his adoptive country, the United States of America. Recognizing his contribution to the developing of friendly relationships between the two countries, in 1999 the Romanian Government appointed Mr. Samoila as Romania’s Honorary Consul in Virginia. In 2000, the President of Romania conferred Mr. Samoila the National Order of Faithful Service in the rank of Commander. In 2005, Mr. Samoila was promoted to the rank of Honorary Consul General of Romania. Since 2012, Mr. Samoila is proudly serving Romania as its Honorary Consul General in Southwest Florida.
